Information about the Natural Park

The Natural Park “Rusenskibeli Lom”- a unique and picturesque part of Bulgaria’s nature, is located in the Eastern part of the hilly plain of the Danube River and about 20 km South of Ruse. The park is named after the river Rusenski Lom-the last tributary on the right side of the Danube. It has been declared a public park by Order #567 of 26 February 1970 published in State Gazette 30/14 April 1970. The area of the park is 22267 decares and is located along the rivers Mali (small), Cherni (black) and Beli (white) Lom, with a total length of 42 km. The abovementioned Order also describes the boundaries and management of the protected territory and lists a number of conditions for the activities carried out on the territory of the park.
During the Scientific Excursion the participants will visit the Natue Conservation Complex “Lomovete” which is located about 1 km from the village of Nisovo, Ivanovo Municipality, near the confluence of the Beli Lom and Mali Lom rivers. The first part of the Complex- a Visitor Center with a field ornithological station, was built in 2013 with funds from Operative Programme “Environment” 2007-2013. The second part of the Complex was opened in 2015. It was financed by the Centre for Research, Training, Simulation and Analysis of the Biodiversity in Natural Park “Rusenski Lom”.
